![]() I'm not interested in chasing after someone who isn't into me, so our dates felt like a waste of both our time. When I first met Seven he was so disinterested, disdainful, and self-important that I wondered why he even bothered to text me. But Verona Beach's resident K-pop star grew on me so much that if the upward trend in affection continued at the same trajectory, he could eventually take first place. If I were writing this ranking at the start of Boyfriend Dungeon, Seven would land somewhere near the bottom. ![]() Not as much of a jerk as he could have been. Again, polyamory is a thing, but in this case it feels like you might just be a side character among the rotating cast of Valeria's dazzling life. Valeria feels like she doesn't want to be tied down by anything, and is after more out of life than any one person could satisfy. Though a romance with her is appealing, you'd be constantly anxious you aren't enough to keep her interested, especially once the initial excitement dies down. The main problem is that it's hard to tell if you're actually special to Valeria. Valeria is the confident, magnetic one who respects people over nonsensical rules, and always makes whoever she's talking to feel like they're just as interesting as her. Not the popular one who has Homecoming Queen in the bag, or the delinquent who skips class and smokes behind the toilet block. ![]() A rebellious artist, she's the cool girl at school who everyone wants to hang out with on weekends. Valeria is an adventure in human (and dagger) form. His role in the story comes to an abrupt halt, though it effectively hints towards future content when he mysteriously texts, "we'll meet again somehow, sooner than we think." And with both axes and hammers being common weapon choices in the gaming industry, fans will likely be eager to try them out.Fun and exciting, but probably not a long-term relationship. And players have already met Jonah, and ax that used to date the player character's cousin Jesse. Because of Valeria's popularity, another dateable woman will be an exciting addition. She's an athletic hammer that dislikes the patriarchy and chapters but enjoys competition and karaoke. Likewise, one of the two new romances coming to Boyfriend Dungeon's DLC is another woman named Leah. ![]() And, despite its title, Boyfriend Dungeon also has a couple of non-male options: there's Valeria, an artistic dagger who creates art as a form of protest, and Sawyer, a nonbinary college student who hasn't yet figured out how to make a grilled cheese or turn their assignments in on time. ![]() But there's a bit more than just the two 'weaponbabes' that players can expect to arrive with the post-launch content.īeing able to date weapons is the main premise of Boyfriend Dungeon and currently, there are currently seven options, or six not including the cat Pocket who players can cuddle with but not quite in the same way as everyone else. Two more dateable weapons were promised as part of the higher Kickstarter milestones, but because of Covid-related constraints, not only was the game's release put off until 2021, but this additional content was promised as free DLC for Kickstarter backers, and paid DLC for others. However, it has been seen as a bit short, only containing two dungeons or 'Dunjs' as they're called in the game, as some content promised during the Kickstarter campaign was delayed. Still, it's a charming indie title nominated as a Game For Impact at this year's Game Awards. Though it's half visual novel and half isometric dungeon crawler a bit reminiscent of Hades, the story that ties it all together encompasses stalking, which is a sensitive topic for some. Boyfriend Dungeon, which is both a dungeon crawler and a dating simulator, released earlier this year to positive reception, though it wasn't without some controversies along the way. ![]()
